La Cabanha a Tala
The
Crioulo Horse is very well known and is used in the south of Brazil
in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina,
and Paraná, and less so in the states of São Paulo
and Mato Grosso do Sul.
Very famous Crioulos are being
bred by Avelino Vieira Neto at Cabanha A Tala.
This famous stud has been breeding
Crioulo Horses for more than 20 years and has more than 300
brood mares. The Cabanha A Tala had to decide quickly to
increase the size of the Estância. The mares also work with livestock
- Red Angus and Aberdeen Angus cattle.
They
had a huge auction recently, where more than 200 horses were sold,
all pure-bred Cavalos Crioulos. It was the largest auction
of only one breed in Brazil and also the largest auction of the
history of the Crioulo horse in Brazil presented by the same
breeder.
Today there are 50 mares available
for breeding and the stud continues to be very competitive in practical
trials. Cabanha a Tala was champion of the last national
competition Bocal de Ouro and Freio de Ouro.
Today
in Brazil, for the second consecutive year, everyone is delighted
that one Crioulo horse from Cabanha A Tala should have become
a champion to rival the Quarter Horses of São Paulo in "Freestyle"
and "Western Pleasure" competitions.
In order to ensure that the
Crioulos horses are known throughout the world, the Cabanha A
Tala stud of Brazil is contributing to the recognition of Cavalos
Crioulos horses, a local variation of the Criollo breed of South
America.
